Internet in Myanmar has a penetration rate estimated to be 1%. Historically, this was due to regulations on pricing and availability combined with limited infrastructure, which lent to the country’s isolation to the rest of the world.
Things have changed. While infrastructure difficulties remain, and there are no immediate plans to significantly overhaul Myanmar’s internet connectivity, there are a growing number of companies utilizing existing networks and technologies to offer home or office internet access in Myanmar’s larger cities, namely Mandalay, Yangon and Myanmar’s capital, Nay Pyi Daw.
